Client ID VS Client Secret VS Tenant ID Subscription ID

Client ID and client secret are used to authenticate an application, while the tenant ID and subscription ID are used to identify the Azure AD tenant and subscription that the application is associated with.

Client ID

A client ID is a unique identifier that is assigned to an application when it is registered in Azure Active Directory (AD). The client ID is used by Azure AD to identify the application and to generate access tokens.

Client Secret

A client secret is a password or key that is used to authenticate the application to Azure AD. When an application is registered in Azure AD, it is typically assigned a client secret, which the application can use to obtain an access token.

Tenant ID

A tenant ID is a unique identifier that is assigned to an Azure AD tenant. An Azure AD tenant is a dedicated instance of Azure AD that is used by an organization to manage its users and applications.

Subscription ID

A subscription ID is a unique identifier that is assigned to an Azure subscription. An Azure subscription is a logical container for Azure resources and services that are used by an organization.

Azure Active Directory (Azure AD)

Azure AD tenant

a reserved Azure AD service instance that an organization receives and owns once it signs up for a Microsoft cloud service such as Azure, Microsoft Intune, or Microsoft 365. Each tenant represents an organization, and is distinct and separate from other Azure AD tenants.
